Dawn on Putney Heath. A duel was to be fought between Lord Tyack and Sir Philip Good. The cause: Sir Philip had been discovered in a compromising situation with Lady Tyack.

Sir Philip's second ensured that all the conditions of the duel were satisfied, and presented the gentlemen with their weapons


Lady Good watched in horror as the duel rapidly came to a conclusion. The lesser swordsman (Sir Philip) was killed. But who was that strange woman lurking among the trees?
