Britches & Hoes

The recession has led to endless talk of austerity measures, making-do-and-mending and growing your own vegetables on an allotment. But the big question is, of course, what to wear while mulching the compost on your carrots. Tiffany Tondut, Louise Taylor and Samantha Doty all agreed that the uniform of the Land Girls of the Second World War served their needs adequately. The only disadvantage was that it caught the roving eyes of a couple of off-duty tommies - who had more than contraband tobacco on their minds.

Digging for victory is all very well, girls, but who gets to wear the original Women's Land Army (WLA) armband?

Come along Tiffany, these tobacco plants, juniper berries and truffles won't plant themselves!

But while they till the soil, a couple of tommies on leave appear, terribly excited about some exotic souvenirs from Europe, and looking for some lovely ladies to share them with.

But chaps, please be sure to read the instructions carefully before use, unless you want to embarrass yourself, your regiment and above all your country.
