P.G. WODEHOUSE COMPETITION

PG

This year sees the reissue of P.G. Wodehouse's back catalogue in Arrow Books. Published in new paperback editions throughout the year, all priced at £7.99, they will hopefully knock dreary old Shakespeare off the top spot as the most quintessentially English author. To mark this splendid occasion, the Chap has teamed up with Arrow Books to offer our readers a most thrilling competition.

We are inviting our readers to sharpen their quills and lock themselves in the study, away from the prying eyes of roving aunts, to pen a typical episode of contemporary life in the P.G Wodehouse style. How, for example, would Lord Emsworth react to the news that Blandings Castle had been selected for a makeover on a television programme? What would Jeeves advise Wooster to do when faced with a gang of roughs who took exception to his windowpane checked plus fours?

The prize is a picnic hamper stuffed with the sort of hearty victuals Jeeves would have packed to keep his master's chums entertained, as well as five of the new Wodehouse editions. Entries should be limited to 2,000 words, with the winning entry published in the October issue of The Chap.

Send your entries to: P.G. Wodehouse Competition, P.O. Box 39216, London SE3 0XS, or post@thechap.net

The closing date is 31st July 2008.
