Issue 28
This was the first issue not to feature a knitting pattern on the cover. Artists Gilbert & George did a passable impression of a knitting pattern for us
in Venice, just before Banny Poostchi interviewed them. Also included were:
- Earl Okin on why he loves his spats and why you should, too
- A report on an experiment to determine whether George Mallory was carrying any more weight than today's lycra-clad mountaineers
- An investigation into the rearing of civilised children in a decidedly uncivilised world
- Sartorial advice for scruffy artistic upstarts the Chapman brothers
- Photographic evidence that one gets far more out of watching a soccer match if one is suitably attired
- Arbuthnot & Slipper on the etiquette of pubs, from elegant spillage to beer mat usage
- Children in Tweed - a report from the front line of London's terrifying East End, where The Chap conducted a sartorial relief operation
